Mesh Omnimedia Selected as Technology Partner by the Powhatan School

Independent school chooses agency of record engagement for onsite support and technological curriculum development

Purcellville, VA (August 15, 2015) – Mesh Omnimedia, Loudoun County, Virginia’s 2014 Technology Small Business of the Year, has been selected by the Powhatan School as its technology partner. As Powhatan’s agency of record, Mesh will provide full time onsite IT help desk support as well as curriculum development, back office support, professional development and technology class instruction. Located in Boyce, the Powhatan School is regarded as one of Northern Virginia’s finest private schools serving Pre-K through eighth grades.

“The addition of the Mesh Omnimedia team demonstrates Powhatan’s commitment to innovation,” said Susan Scarborough, Head of School. “Our entire community, from students and teachers to faculty and parents, will benefit from their creativity, technical capabilities and professional experience. While honoring our commitment to a literature-based curriculum, we are now exploring exciting new opportunities to enhance the Powhatan learning experience.”

Shannon Mackey, CEO of Mesh Omnimedia adds, “Powhatan is raising the bar for the region’s independent schools by engaging a full-service creative agency as its technology partner. In turn, we designed a flexible business model for them that provides mission critical full-time onsite technical support, as well as technology instruction for both students and teachers plus access to our creative design, web and video production teams for marketing and development.”

“We are taking a phased approach to moving Powhatan forward with their technological initiatives,” said Stephen Mackey, Creative Director at Mesh. “We began by conducting a comprehensive technology audit, and identified near, mid and long-term strategies for everything from curriculum to back office applications and network infrastructure. As we work to sunset Powhatan’s legacy IT systems, we are migrating everything to cost-effective cloud-based solutions, while being diligent about a manageable rate of change. We have already completed the rapid deployment of a Google Apps for Education pilot program, which will launch with dedicated classroom Chromebooks when school begins in a few weeks. In addition, we are working with the administrators and teachers to define new curricula including advanced coding initiatives, digital media technology projects, and digital citizenship with a focus on Internet safety.”

Shannon adds, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to have such a meaningful impact on the Powhatan community, and look forward to a long and successful relationship. As we continue to support Powhatan we are also growing our team to include Google Certified Administrators, Trainers and Educators as well as help desk personnel. This will ensure multiple layers of support not only for Powhatan, but for our other educational clients as well.”
